TCGplayer fee calculator

Arithmetic on rates you choose. Presets are the fees TCGplayer publishes, read on 14 September 2026 — check them against your own account before relying on the result.

A sale price is not what you keep. On TCGplayer the commission takes a percentage of the card and of the shipping you charge, a transaction fee takes a percentage of the whole order including sales tax, and a fixed per-order amount takes the same thirty cents whether the card sold for two dollars or two hundred.

Does TCGplayer take a cut of your sale?

Yes, and from more than the card. A Level 1–4 seller pays 10.75% commission on the card price and the same 10.75% on the shipping charged, plus a transaction fee of 2.5% of the order total including tax and a flat $0.30. On a $20 card with $4 shipping and 7% sales tax that comes to $3.52 before your own postage — about 18% of the card.

What the calculator does

It follows the formulas TCGplayer publishes. Commission applies to the card price, capped at $75 per product sold, and to the shipping you charge, with no cap. On a Pro account the 2.5% Pro fee works the same way with its own $75 cap. The transaction fee applies to the order total — card, shipping and the buyer's sales tax — plus a fixed $0.30 per order. Postage and packaging are your costs, not the marketplace's, so they come off the result rather than the fee line.

It is checked against TCGplayer's own worked example: a $65.31 card with $0.99 shipping and 7% sales tax costs $9.20 in fees for a Level 1–4 seller and $9.85 for a Pro seller, and the calculator returns the same two figures. Sales tax depends on the buyer's state, so treat the 7% default as a placeholder; it moves the result by cents, not dollars.

One thing the calculator deliberately does not model: TCGplayer Direct. Its fees are item-based — half the value of a card under $2.49 and a flat amount per card above it — and TCGplayer ships the order to the buyer, so a postage field would answer the wrong question.

Using it for a marketplace we do not quote

Switch the preset to custom and enter your own commission and per-order fee, with the Pro fee at zero. That is the honest way to cover marketplaces whose published rates we could not read ourselves — see the note in where to sell Pokémon cards about what is verified here and what is not.

What a card is worth before fees is on the value page, and the condition tier you list under comes from the condition guide. If you are deciding between selling raw and sending the card to a grader first, the grading ROI calculator answers that one — its marketplace-fee field is the same number you just worked out here.

Frequently asked questions

How much does TCGplayer take from a sale?

A Level 1–4 seller pays 10.75% commission on the card, capped at $75 per product, plus 10.75% of the shipping charged, and a transaction fee of 2.5% of the order total including shipping and tax, plus $0.30. Rates read from TCGplayer on 14 September 2026.

Why is my effective fee percentage higher than the commission?

Because other charges ride along: commission is also taken from the shipping you charge, the transaction fee applies to shipping and sales tax as well as the card, and a fixed per-order amount does not shrink with the sale. On a five-dollar card those extras can exceed the commission itself.

How are TCGplayer Pro seller fees different?

A Pro account pays a lower 9.25% commission plus a separate 2.5% Pro fee. Both apply to the card and to the shipping charged, and each has its own $75 cap per product sold. The transaction fee stays at 2.5% of the order total plus $0.30. Read from TCGplayer on 14 September 2026.

Can I use this for eBay or another marketplace?

Yes. Switch the preset to "custom rates" and enter the commission percentage and per-order fee your marketplace charges you. This site does not publish eBay percentages because its fee table sits behind bot protection we do not bypass.

Should shipping be charged to the buyer or included?

On TCGplayer it barely matters for fees: commission and the transaction fee both apply to shipping as well as to the card, so moving money between item price and postage changes almost nothing. What does change your result is the postage you actually pay, which is why it is a separate field here.
